When is the best time to take a college tour?

What is the best year to start looking at colleges? Freshmen, sophomore, or junior in high school? Also, When should i start taking the tours? Fresh, soph, or junior?

You should start looking at different schools your sophomore/junior year and then begin your first round of tours beginning your junior year. Then based on which schools you liked and are accepted in to (usually your top two or three) you should do a second visit during your senior year.

If you are seriously interested in a school, it is good to visit multiple times. Once to see the school as a whole and then a second time to visit the applicable program (Ex: engineering, liberal arts, education, business) to get a more personal visit.

Good luck with your college search! College is a very big decision, but I’m sure you’ll find your perfect school.

    Junior year for both. But alot of people decide to wait till their senior year and that isn’t the smartest idea.

    start college surfing in your junior year, before you take the SATs which should be in maythe latest, decide what you want to do where you would like to go

    after the SATs decide if you want to retake and or if your happy

    attend a college fair before traveling to schools. see what schools are interested in YOU

    SUMMER BEFORE SENIOR YEAR make a list of colleges you are sure you may want to apply to start to visit schools and decide whether you like the atmosphere. out of those schools attend the open houses which are in the following fall

    become familiar with APPLICATIONS AND ESSSAYS during the fall then apply

    You can begin to look for colleges you might like to go to any time just don’t get stuck on one school. During the 1st half of your junior year you should begin to take college visits for schools that you think you might want to go to. I would suggest narrowing it down to 3 choices. Also make sure you have a safety school that you know you can get into and you are comfortable going to. Please at least consider some in-state public universities they will give you the best education for your money. Good luck finding a good college that fits you! I hope that this helps!
