College Visits – How Old?

How old do kids have to be to start going on college visits? Or, let me put it this way – how young can you be and still go? I have a freshman who needs to see what college life is like, but I don’t want to waste anybody’s time, either.

No reason not to, but freshman year of highschool seems (to me) like it might be a bit early especially when it’s so hard to know what you actually want to study at that age – I certainly had no idea.

If you or the student wants to go for any reason, then go for it. The college won’t really care what age. Seeing what it’s like might be a good idea.

    The only thing about visiting when they’re younger is that the school can undergo changes with its programs in the time between when you visited and when your student actually applies to the school. I have friends that visited late in their sophomore year and early in their junior year, but I myself didn’t go until the spring of my junior year.

    I don’t see why you can’t go tour a school. You may call and ask the university in question.
