How many community service hours are sufficient for Delta Sigma Theta?

I am interested in Delta Sigma Theta and I am a sophomore in college. In high school i did a lot of community service, but i didn’t do alot my Freshman year of college. This year, which is my sophomore year, i am in a service fraternity and am volunteering every week. So my question is, what will be the minimum amount of community service that i need to apply for membership?

We require at least one continuous year of service with the same organization within the past 3 years. Some organizations, like churches, don’t count, but I can’t remember the specifics. Sometimes they are very particular. They want to see that you are doing the service on your own, not because an organization requires it, so they may or may not count your work with the service frat. The best service is when you go as an individual to volunteer…like at the Boys and Girls Club, or as a Big Sister, or at a museum. Your high school service probably won’t count. You may have to wait until next year, but you will find out at Rush because you will have the opportunity to ask questions.

good luck….
